I had a lovely, fun Saturday! I met up with some friends for a bar crawl around Covent Garden, London. We booked the Ice Bar and I got to eat lobster for the first time in ages, which was probably my favourite part of the day… I love food.
Silly me, though, because I had far too many scrumptious cocktails and I got a bit (well, a lot) emotional at the end of the night. You know how it is when you have a few drinks: you start crying over something dumb and then every little thing in your life that has the potential to make you cry just washes over you all at once and you feel SO HARD DONE BY.
So I stumbled to the train station, whimpering all the way, and when I got there I noticed Hatchard’s, the bookshop. I dragged my pathetic self to the YA section and grabbed a copy of Eleanor & Park. Bawling my eyes out, I handed over my money and the cashier didn’t say a word about how mental I was.
(Bless them, they were so professional.)
So this is the first book I read for the #ReadThemAllThon. Drunken book-buying is not a great idea but it wasn’t a very expensive book and I really enjoyed this story. I didn’t LOVE it, but I liked it a lot and it felt very classic Rainbow Rowell.
Hopefully that story made you laugh a little! I wish I could go back and watch myself doing it, because even though I felt like shit at the time, it’s so funny thinking back. (I should mention as well that my meltdown had nothing whatsoever to do with any of my friends – it was just me being a moron.)
Eleanor & Park was 325 pages long, so I got 32CP from reading it. Plus this post will be tweeted with the #ReadThemAllThon hashtag so that gets me another 2CP.
Now we have the issue of not wanting to read any of the books from my TBR…
