I’ve decided to start taking part in WWW Wednesday, a book meme hosted here on WordPress by Taking on a World of Words. This is where you have to answer the following questions every Wednesday:
- What are you currently reading?
- What did you recently finish reading?
- What do you think you’ll read next?
Currently Reading…
The Confessions of Katherine Howard by Suzannah Dunn.
This is about Henry VIII’s 4th wife who was accused of adultery. We jump straight into the action, as Katherine’s closest advisors are being questioned from the very first chapters. I’m not far in, but so far it’s really good!
Recently Finished…
A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess.
I’ll talk more about this in my monthly wrap-up next week, but suffice to say my feelings are, perhaps predictably, quite mixed regarding this book.
Next, I’ll Read…
The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde.
I never stick to my TBR list in order! However, I am in a Bronte mood at the moment so think I will pick this up quite quickly once it arrives. Apparently it’s about a literary detective in a world where you can go inside books (sounds wonderful), and Jane Eyre is kidnapped from the pages of her own novel.
Thanks for stopping by!
I read ‘The Boylen Inheritance’ last summer and it covered the marriage of Katherine Howard in it. I wonder how the two compare and if either of them are anything close to the truth! Happy reading and thanks for participating in WWW Wednesday!

That’s my absolute favourite of her books! So far it seems quite similar in terms of Katherine’s character, but I do feel Gregory tends to sensationalise a bit. I’d love to read more about Katherine Howard as these are the only 2 I’ve even heard of about her. Thank you! X

I never stick to my list either, there are always new books that get in the way. The Eyre Affair sounds very intriguing. Happy reading 🙂

I read A Clockwork Orange years ago and I’m still not sure how I feel about it. On the one hand, the writing is tremendous and the moral questions the book throws up are important and thought-provoking. On the other hand, spending time inside the head of a psychopath is never much fun
I like the sound of a story from the point of view of Katherine Howard. She tends to get overlooked because she was so young.
The Eyre affair sounds like fun! I hope you enjoy it.

Agreed! I would love to read more about her. The Boleyn Inheritance by Philippa Gregory also deals with her story and I loved that too.
The writing actually really annoyed me with A Clockwork Orange. I understand that they use new slang but did every other word have to be incomprehensible?! I felt like it needed a glossary at the end.

The Eyre Affair is a lot of fun and really clever, I hope you enjoy it! I’ve been thinking about re-reading it, as I first read it as part of a uni course along with a lot of other reading, so it’d be nice to properly absorb it.
Thanks for stopping by my WWW post! 🙂

Oh fun! I always find that I enjoy books more once I’ve studied them because you get to see all this extra depth to them. (Or I just hate them to begin with and hate them even more by the end of the course!)

I haven’t read any of your reads, not even A Clockwork Orange, but The Confessions of Katherine Howard sounds interesting! It’s not my usual kind of read, but I don’t mind reading something different if it’s worth it 🙂

I’ve walked around A Clockwork Orange in the bookstores plenty of time. Something is putting off that one. Anyways, happy reading! http://www.curious-daisy.com/www-wednesdays/www-wednesday-may-4-2016/

I have been wanting to read A Clockwork Orange as well even though I’ve heard a lot of mixed things about it… Somehow I’ve never actually gotten a copy though, and in a way I’m not so sure if I should now. I hope you’ll enjoy your reads this week though!
Happy reading! Here’s my WWW.
