This or That Book Tag.

Many, many thanks to Chocolate n Waffles for tagging me for this! 😀

1. Reading on the couch or on the bed?
Hmm, I don’t really have a preference. I tend to fall asleep either way so I suppose bed is better!

2. Male main character or female main character?
Again, it won’t affect the appeal of the book either way for me, but I did a brief count of my ‘read’ books on Goodreads and most of them seem to have male protagonists. I think is more down to the publishing industry than my personal taste though! If I absolutely have to choose, though (and I do always try to give a clear answer to these), I’ll go with males purely for the fact that the main characters of most of my all-time favourite books are male.

3. Sweet snacks or salty snacks when reading?
I have a massive sweet tooth!

4. Trilogies or quartets?
Generally I prefer a trilogy because it’s less intimidating when you start reading, but it really depends on the series. Like, I really don’t think The Hunger Games would need a fourth book, but I will beg for more Potter books until the day I die.

5. First-person point of view or third-person point of view?
I have read a lot of good books written in first-person but I prefer the more traditional third-person viewpoint.

6. Reading at night or in the morning?
I never realised this before but I think I enjoy reading more in the morning, despite not being a morning person at all. I always get really into my book on the way to work (which is really annoying because then I have to put it away and wait until lunchtime to carry on reading, but by that time I’m normally too tired and take a nap instead.) (Yes, I nap at my desk. It’s the source of much amusement for my coworkers.)

Literally me.

7. Libraries or bookstores?
Definitely bookstores! I loved the library as a child but I feel like they have such little choice for adults. And the people who work there don’t seem to resent the fact that they’re there, which makes me hate them a little since THEY ARE SURROUNDED BY BOOKS FOR THEIR JOB.

8. Books that make you laugh or make you cry?
I love a good cry! That’s how you can tell I’ve enjoyed something – if I’m in tears by the end of it. I don’t cry at books as much as I do at films or stage shows, but I do have the odd breakdown over words on a page.

9. Black book covers or white book covers?
I have more white book covers but prefer the way black ones look on my shelves.

10. Character-driven or plot-driven stories?
It really depends on the story! But generally I probably prefer plot-driven since I love real page-turner, and you don’t really get that urge to keep reading and reading when it’s character-driven. (Or not so often, at least.)

      1. Ha, that’s quite okay. So you know, I’m currently working on a Summer Book Tag! I’ve already planned on tagging you. I didn’t want to post it quite yet since Summer is still a little ways away!

  1. Great answers! 🙂 I totally agree with you on bookstores and libraries. How can librarians look so indifferent? I often feel the urge to shake them and say “you’re working in a freaking library, you should be soooo happy, and get more books for adults, preferably not only classics because I hate them!”

    1. I KNOW! (I do like classics though.) And they don’t give you long enough to read them either. I think if you take out more than 4 books they should extend how long you can keep them for because you might not have time to read them all in three weeks! I know you can renew them but still x

      1. At university I can borrow 10 books for 3 weeks, that itself is a joke. I know I can’t read them all but I always end up taking as many as possible. Then I don’t read them because they’re classics and they require to much brain activity and study. And now I am late in returning them so I’ll have another ban of a couple of weeks #badsystem Xx

  2. Thanks for the tag! I totally relate to the napping at your desk thing – I mean that Chandler gif you used is basically me right now. I’m very close to just getting under my desk and having a sleep haha. I also have the getting into my book on the bus problem… it’s just not long enough!
